01The app
ezkeep works only on your local network. It has no accounts and no servers, and it contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code. We never receive your clipboard text, files, messages, passwords, device names or IP addresses.
02On your devices
The app keeps a few things in its private folder on each device, so it can work:
- A device key and certificate, used to encrypt connections and identify the device to your other devices.
- Your settings, such as the device name, language and blocked devices.
- Password vaults, always encrypted with your master password.
- Files you accept, in the folder you choose, and the state of unfinished transfers.
- Chat history, only if you turn on Keep chat history.
Other ezkeep devices on your network can see this device's name, platform, short code and IP address, which it announces so they can find it. Files you received stay in your folder until you delete them.
03Permissions
- Local network: to find your devices and talk to them.
- Files: only the files you pick to send, and the folder where received files go.
- Camera (optional): only to scan a 2FA QR code. Images are not saved.
- Biometrics (optional): handled by your operating system. ezkeep never sees your fingerprint or face data.
- Clipboard: read when you press Send clipboard, or every second on desktop if you turn on Auto-share.
